About
The establishment of this competition would be a start for the Leeward Islands. The goal is therefore to first familiarize oneself with similar competitions such as those offered by Tahiti and then acquire the experience and knowledge to be able to compete in them. With all the motivation and willpower possible, my goal is to link the Ori Tahiti competitions on Tahiti to the Ori Tahiti Competition I Raromatai project in order to allow the winners of the different categories to represent our beautiful islands in the field of Tahitian dance.
Why Compete?
A competition for the raromatai

Participating in a dance competition offers the opportunity to perfect
your skills, to receive constructive feedback,
to meet other dance enthusiasts and have an enriching experience
which builds self-confidence. It can also be an opportunity to push back
your artistic limits and share your talents with an audience.
“My first steps in ori tahiti began at the Conservatoire de Tahiti.
At that time, I didn't really like dancing, it was more my mother who pushed me to go (laughs). In the end, I never got into it and I even stopped after 3 months. However, at the age of 21, on a whim, my best friend suggested that I participate in the famous "Heiva i Tahiti" festival.
I thought, why not? That's where my love for our beautiful Tahitian dance began, and I even regret not having persevered when I was younger and having been so airheaded.
That said, since my first participation in Heiva i Tahiti, I have not stopped dancing. I have had the chance to dance in several groups, which allowed me to gain experience and find my own style.
In 2018, I had the opportunity to participate in the best dancer competition for Heiva i Tahiti, where I won first place. Now a resident since 2021 in Raiatea, I decided to open my own dance school in order to share my experience with the inhabitants of this wonderful island.
With the support of my partner and many people who have complete confidence in me, the "Ori tahiti competition i raromatai" will see the light of day for the first time on June 1, 2024. With the means at hand, we wish to challenge lovers of ori tahiti, solo and/or in groups, in order to allow them to surpass themselves and get closer to what is done in Tahiti in terms of competitions.
It is with immense joy and deep gratitude to each sponsor that we will be able to make this event an annual event.
This competition is reserved for the raromatai, but we will be more than proud to be able to welcome competitors from Tahiti or its neighboring islands, and why not, in the years to come, international participants."
